April, a thousand waters (and coats)!

April, a thousand waters and coats

While the months of cold and fog begin their long-awaited farewell, spring begins to bloom timidly with the arrival of the first rains. Even though the sunny days are already appealing, April brings the famous ‘April, a thousand waters’, and with it comes the need to stay dry and comfortable without losing elegance.

While we wait for milder days, we’ve brought you three models of tailored rain jackets to inspire you. They’re practical, light and sophisticated, and will spruce up any outfit and keep the rain at bay.

The Peacoat

The tailored Peacoat is a classic, born in the mid-18th century to stay. Timeless and versatile for the unpredictable weather, the Peacoat stands out on its own, but you can combine it with chinos or jeans for a smart casual look.

The spring trench coat

A tailored trench coat is an essential piece for a man’s wardrobe because of its versatility, elegance and timelessness. During the rainy season, it is the protagonist of any outfit. From more traditional cuts to sportier versions, such as a jacket, men’s tailored trench coats go perfectly with t-shirts or shirts in light fabrics, and can be customised with noble and technical fabrics that protect against wind and showers, all with a unique touch to suit your taste.

The work-jacket

Working days don’t always go well with rainy days, but a tailored work-jacket is in perfect harmony with spring. In proposals such as a waxed cotton work-jacket, this garment retains its temperature and offers protection from the rain without losing its more refined side. A perfect model for feeling light in the city.

April, a thousand coats!

Spring is the ideal season to give your wardrobe a makeover and invest in a tailor-made rain jacket with quality fabrics to protect you from the April showers (and the unpredictable weather of other months). Whether in a more traditional or modern style, these three iconic pieces can be customised with windproof and waterproof fabrics and in the shades you prefer, preparing you for spring in style and elegance.

Your bespoke wedding suit

Bride and groom

The first signs of spring mark the start of the famous wedding season, which lasts throughout the summer. For the bride and groom, groomsmen and guests, this is the right time to prepare for the big day.

There are many preparations for the ceremony, and for the bride and groom the task of finding the ideal wedding suit is even greater. Mestres de Medida wants to help you choose “my wedding suit”. And no-one else’s.

The day of the yes

Many weddings have passed through suMisura’s history and seams – between anxious brides and grooms, excited groomsmen and guests who want to look their best.

We’ve already looked at bespoke suits for classic weddings, such as dinner jackets, dinner jackets or even jackets, but today’s article will focus on a very popular request from our brides and grooms: casual weddings.

What to wear to a beach wedding?

Weddings on the beach or in natural and open environments (such as farms and even plains) have already witnessed the union of many couples. Mestres de Medida has dressed brides and grooms who got married in the scorching Mexican desert or on the paradisiacal Tunisian beaches, and in every proposal we’ve managed to achieve the casual, tailor-made wedding suit that brought the groom to the altar at his best – and perfectly in harmony with the occasion and the setting.

Depending on the venue and the aesthetic favoured for the wedding day, we’ve put together some inspirational pieces.

Elegant and casual wedding

Settings such as beach or farm weddings, for example, call for elegant suits with light fabrics and colour options that harmonise with the natural tones of the landscape. The Austrian Janker is a safe choice for a bespoke wedding suit, a garment that supports light fabrics such as linen and cotton, but has the structure to match a more original or elegant accessory.

A touch of colour

Original weddings call for a touch of colour, and bespoke wedding waistcoats can make the difference in a more original outfit. With colourful fabrics or assorted patterns to suit your style, waistcoats are perfect when comfort is the watchword but you want to avoid the traditional black or dark tailored wedding suit.

To match the outfit, tailored chinos make for a timeless yet modern wedding suit.

A unique suit for a unique day

Regardless of the setting and degree of formality, we know that weddings are unique days, and total personalisation of the outfit need not be reserved for the bride alone.

The bride and groom can also look for an exclusive bespoke suit, in an exclusive and totally personalised model for their wedding day. Because the ceremony deserves it, suMisura is also on hand to design a wedding suit just for you or help you recreate a look you have as a reference, always with high quality fabrics and specialised tailoring that will leave any groom confident to take on his special day or any guest ready to match the occasion perfectly.

Spring and summer fashions for the bride and groom

We know how long and worrying planning a wedding can be; there’s so much to think about and there’s so much on offer. But there’s no turning back time, so for now the most important thing is to find the wedding suit you’ll feel comfortable, elegant and confident in on your big day. We’ll take care of the cutting and sewing. We have the perfect model so that it’s one less detail to worry about. Ready to say yes?

Our autumn/winter coat collection

Suit Means Business

The days get colder and periods of rain become more frequent, but unpredictable weather doesn’t have to mean that you can’t be well-dressed in a tailor-made jacket that is resistant to water and adverse conditions.

To enjoy life outdoors or to do all your outdoor chores with maximum comfort and protection, outdoor jackets are capable of turning the harsh into pleasure.

Outerwear, outerlife

The English language calls “Outerwear” a set of garments intended to be worn outdoors, regardless of the environment or occasion. But gone are the days when outdoor garments didn’t convey elegance and good taste; the proposals are increasingly varied, with options and purposes adaptable to various materials and models of men’s and women’s outdoor jackets.

The power of bespoke dressing is to offer our customers the possibility of choosing the fabric of their choice for the model they want to wear. A control that not only meets the visual expression of each person, but also responds to the needs of each client’s daily life (always different and with various details to attend to).

We present our collection of fabrics and materials – suitable for every style or performance – that will be your best allies in the cold and rain and that you can select in your favourite model. Be inspired by our proposals!

1. Waterproof jackets

Don’t compromise on the rain and feel comfortable and stylish with our models in water-repellent fabrics. You can bet on a versatile garment for all four seasons, such as a trench coat, various jacket models for a sportier look, a field jacket or even a blazer perfect for commuting – so you can arrive at work with sophistication.

2. Waxed cotton jackets

Tailored cotton jackets are traditionally more robust and therefore also offer comfort and protection against the cold. Our StayWax fabric takes the typical waxed cotton a step further for a more innovative proposal, where the special combination of waxes results in a drier, cosier feel for everyday wear.

3. LoroPiana rain jackets

From the prestigious Italian brand Lanifício Luigi Colombo, this is a noble fibre fabric combined with cutting-edge technology for rain protection. LoroPiana rain jackets have a hydrophilic membrane that is both breathable and resistant to rain and wind. Our Measurement Masters recommend this material for trench coats and elegant city pieces.

4. Made-to-measure woollen coats

A classic so timeless that it should be familiar from any wardrobe. In mixed versions with cashmere and alpaca or in exciting doubleface combinations, loden or stretch coverts, this could be the season when you finally get your tailor-made woollen coat.

5. Faux fur coats

When the days are cold without rain and elegance is a must, faux fur coats add the finishing touch to any look. Comfortable, warm and with a soft touch, our finish offers an authentic look that will make any outfit more sophisticated.

6. Bespoke thermal jackets

Made entirely in Europe (IT) and using materials from renewable sources, our tailor-made jackets with thermal insulating fabric have a special focus on elegance and protection, resisting rain, protecting from the cold and maintaining good breathability. Our Measurement Masters prove that it is possible to have a thermal jacket in a refined look.

7. Wool velvet jackets

We’ve taken another classic with an innovative twist. The fashionable peacoat has been transformed into an expressive wool velvet jacket alternative to the well-known melton, so that it retains the classic and sublime look that everyone recognises, but with an extra layer of comfort and protection.

Face the rain with distinction!

For cloudy days, outfits that stand up to the weather are essential. And now that we’ve presented 7 proposals for fabrics that are resistant to cold and rain, your only challenge is to choose the material of choice and the model that best matches your everyday outfits. Count on the Masters of Measurement to help you get the perfect tailor-made, personalised and comfortable jacket.

Personalised trainers just for you

Personalised trainers just for you

It’s no secret at suMisura that we value clothes and accessories with their own identity. Bespoke fashion is also made with the taste and personal touch of the wearer through inimitable pieces and key elements.

This is one of the reasons why we launched the personalised shoes and accessories platform, where you can try out all the possible and combinable models, cuts, colours and textures to create absolutely unique pieces that you decide on step by step.

But the Masters of Measurement wanted to go one step further.

A step forward

We are proud to introduce a new feature to our suMisura personalised shoe platform: personalised prints on men’s and women’s trainers.

We’ve added the most varied patterns, symbols and images to our library so you can select and add them to create your personalised trainers or, if you prefer, provide a design or pattern you’ve created yourself.

The possibilities are as endless as your imagination, with patterns, text, logos, backgrounds (…) and total control over customising the trainers – you can move, rotate, copy, adjust the colour, among other possibilities. Just put your creativity and taste to work – or ask one of our Measurement Masters for help!

Walk with identity

This was the step we needed to build a path where fashion celebrates the individuality of bespoke well-wearing. Our platform is now more flexible and complete so that you can have footwear personalised to your terms and preferences – inimitable and unique, just like each one of us.

Whether you want to give a gift to someone who loves unique and unforgettable pieces, or you want to give yourself a gift with your own signature and personal touch, we are ready to make every shoe a reality.

Right-buttoned jackets: the collection for everyone

Coat

Jackets with right and left buttons or, as they are also known, men’s and women’s single-breasted jackets. Fashion can save history in the most subtle details, as detailed as a button.

Whether it’s on the left or the right has already revealed a lot about who wears and presses that button. A rule, a story that suMisura wanted to break.

History buttons

It is a centuries-old rule that jackets and shirts are buttoned on the right for men and on the left for women. As women were traditionally dressed by right-handed aunts (the divine hand), the women’s jacket (buttoned on the left) was the most practical.
For men, right-buttoned jackets were the rule, since independence in dressing came earlier than for women and symbolised the autonomy to dress and button oneself.

We thought to ourselves…

Fashion and bespoke tailoring are made up of rules and traditions, some of which span generations and magnificent periods in history. But fashion also takes on life and personality when rules are broken.

Autonomy is a power that shouldn’t choose genders, orientations or preferences. And buttoning a jacket is not a trivial gesture; it can convey a lot about who we are, what we choose to wear, and discreetly symbolise many moments: a successfully concluded meeting, a deliciously enjoyed dinner, facing a cloudy day, sheltering from a cold day, but one that lies ahead with warm surprises. A button was never just a button.

Tailored jackets with right-hand buttoning

SuMisura knows that when rules are well broken, looks with more personality emerge. And the novelty of this autumn/winter 2022 collection is inspired by the latest requests from our customers and overcoming barriers and dated traditions: right-buttoned jackets for everyone.

Ask our staff for the “right-hand jacket” option, in the selected models of field jacket, chore jacket and trucker jacket, for a more casual or sporty style (which combines comfort with sophistication), and the classic tailored trench coat, perfect for going out in the rain with elegance, in a variety of colours and fabrics that can be combined to your taste and discretion.

Inimitable pieces made stitch by stitch for you. A jacket you can button with the certainty that it’s made to fit you.

Trainers or trainers?

Trainers or trainers

It’s still summer, but autumn will follow. Bespoke men’s autumn shoes are a real wardrobe chameleon, a piece that can connect summer and autumn when it comes to dressing. The time is right.

A man’s autumn look isn’t complete without the finishing touch on his feet, and personalised footwear can make all the difference in elevating any outfit. When it comes to choosing comfort and style, one word stands out in footwear: trainers. Or are they sneakers? Let’s understand the differences and when to wear these two types of men’s footwear.

Sneakers

Personalised sneakers for men are an essential item of footwear and make up any masculine autumn look. This traditional rubber-soled shoe was born 140 years ago and was closely associated with physical activity and the underprivileged. Sneakers quickly left the sporting sphere to become part of everyday life for all social classes. They are the ideal men’s footwear to combine with an autumn shirt or jeans for a more relaxed option.

How to wear sneakers?

In a strictly social and city role, Oxford-based sneakers are the ones to beat. They are plain, discreet, functional and very relaxed, matching perfectly with mid-season fabrics such as linen, cotton twill, jeans, chinos or stretch knitwear. And when the cold hits, sneakers protect your feet from the cold and rain and are partners with flannels, velvets, whipcords, hoppsacks and trench coats.

Tennis

In Portugal, the men’s espadrilles appeared on the tennis courts, painted white and dressed in Oxfords with rubber soles. Its most obvious name would be “the trainers”, making the name almost a national honour.

A pair of men’s tailored trainers can take this footwear and elevate any autumn look into a stylish accessory.

How to wear trainers?

Due to their characteristics linked to men’s sportswear, trainers have a number of characteristics.

Of prominent or presumptuous components (add-ons in digital language).

Oxford trainers go with any type of autumn fabric. However, we don’t recommend wearing them in executive looks for men. Some attempts have been made with brogue pattern trainers, usually with a thinner rubber sole, which present themselves as an intermediate alternative: they don’t have the charm of classic footwear – if that’s the desired effect, an Oxford shoe is the ideal solution – but they also don’t have the “sneaky” character of their genuine brother for a casual, relaxed look. You could call it the middle ground.

Personalised men’s trainers

For a personal and inimitable touch, the suMisura shoe app allows you to fully customise your next pair of autumn men’s shoes. The tool offers a wide range of materials, from smooth leather, embossed with various patterns, printed with numerous graphics, linen, denim, fabric and more.

Other versions of the rubber-soled shoe such as the Corsini and the Chukka are also available on the app, along with other protagonists of leisure and summer footwear, such as loafers including the famous driver moccasin with Flex technology.

Whether it’s trainers or trainers, if they’re here to stay, then it’s part of suMisura’s mission to offer a stylish option that combines tailor-made fashion!

Singing in the rain with the Storm System

Rain coat

Gene Kelly once sang ‘I’m singing in the rain (…)’, an unlikely joy in the midst of the downpour that inspired the suMisura Measurement Masters to dedicate an article to rain, a common thread that connects all the seasons. Sometimes more associated with autumn and winter, it also likes to surprise in summer. It arrives without warning and without modesty: sometimes it’s drizzle, other times it’s a deluge.

Storm System: storm-proof

We suspect that rain doesn’t often make us want to sing, but it does make us want to shelter from it. And it was with protection and shelter from the rain in mind – in low and high season – that the Storm System weatherproof fabric was developed.

Thanks to the Storm System, we offer our customers rain-resistant bomber jackets, work jackets and mackintoshes for men – the latter a recognised piece from the Loro Piana house, a lightweight mackintosh that protects against cold and rain with lightness and elegance.

The Storm System offers wind- and rain-resistant fabrics through a double-barrier system that uses an exclusive hydrophilic membrane that is breathable but water-resistant. It also preserves the quality of the fabric, protecting it from stains or dirt caused by rain or humid environments.

The solid beige and blue colours are a sure sign of sophistication for any occasion and style choice. It can be a trench coat, but it can also be a more sporty jacket or a work jacket, the piece that perfectly completes the casual business look for men, so popular these days!

A rain-resistant jacket for men

Bask in the glory of summer or face autumn without having to sing in the rain. The colours and fabrics of autumn/winter 2022 fashion for men will bring joy, style and (most importantly!) protection so you can welcome the cloudy days. If the rain surprises you or the day takes a turn for the worse, you’ll be prepared with your tailor-made and customisable men’s jacket in a high-performance and comfortable technical fabric. If the rain has no limits, neither do our suMisura fabrics.

Oxford shoes: for them and for women

Oxford shoes

Oxford shoes
It’s not foreignising, it’s calling a spade a spade. When it comes to footwear, two great families hold an empire with its ramifications, each with interpretations and variations that have followed trends over the years: the Oxford and the Derby.

What’s the difference between Oxford and Derby shoes?
The Oxford model has a closed toe, while the Derby has an open toe. In the latter, the holes on the sides offer the possibility of greater openness in the instep.

Where did Oxford shoes come from?
They were born as a boot at Oxford University in the mid-17th century, but it was the academics who turned them into the model they are known for today.

If they were initially associated with academicism and tradition, they quickly made the leap from uniforms to the contemporary wardrobe, among proposals of various models, colours and even heels!

Until the 19th century, the Oxford shoe was only worn by men, but nowadays it’s a staple in women’s looks.

Personalised Oxford shoes
As well as offering casual refinement and great comfort, Oxford shoes stand out for their versatility and creativity. With a multitude of proposals and variations for both women and men, you can explore all the potential of these shoes on our suMisura shoe customisation platform.

On this platform, you can order your dream Oxford, with every detail taken into account. Explore shades, textures, combinations, types of sole and even the colour of the laces. From the most traditional to the most daring, there are no limits to irreverence.

Elegant men and women with good taste will make their Oxfords shine on any occasion, in any environment and in any mood. And (why not?) with a personalised bag, belt or wallet, in a perfect match. A successful outfit!

And why not a purse, bag, belt or wallet made from the same creativity, matching or not so much, which will certainly be a success.

Pink clothes for men

Pink clothes for men

The colours of the post-pandemic
After a dark and grey time of pandemic – and now in the shadow of a war raging around the world – it should come as no surprise that the big trend for spring/summer 2022 is… colour! A clear manifestation of the need to bring back joy and energetic, charismatic tones. We’re already seeing a lot of colour on the catwalks and streets, and at suMisura, there will be no shortage of colour in our bespoke tailoring.

Pink, a timeless
colour Soft but with personality, pink tones will have a strong presence in this year’s spring/summer men’s fashion. In fact, pink is a colour that never loses its prominence, but the variety of shades and proposals always leaves you with a renewed, fresh image and, yes, perfectly suited to men’s tailoring.

Do you feel it’s an unexpected colour for men? History says otherwise, or pink would not have been associated with men’s fashion and great bodies of power for many centuries. The evolution of time has somewhat democratised the colour among all genders, but pink continues to bring charm, contemporaneity and softness to men’s fashion. We show you how in our proposals.

The peace of pinks
Our proposal for wearing colour well this spring/summer is a tailored blazer in a combination of crimson and white, a peaceful, tranquil and sober pink in a discreet and minimal Pied de Poule that lightly covers a half-sleeved knitted polo shirt and combines with white tailored trousers, chino style. A sophisticated, casual and cheerful look, perfect for simple, carefree dates.
